Chairs’ Training 2011 – Apply now!

By Matti Lötjönen • 4 heinäkuun, 2011

Would you like to go further in EYP? Would you like to learn how a group works? Would you like to become an outstanding chair?

We invite you to apply to the Chairs’ Training of EYP Finland. The training will be organised in Helsinki on 12–14 August 2011.

The Chairs’ Training is for EYP alumni interested in becoming officials but with little or no experience in Chairing. The aim of the training is to provide the participants with essential tools, knowledge and confidence to chair at EYP events – and elsewhere.

The participants of the training will gain basic knowledge on group dynamics and learn to use a variety of chairing techniques. All essential stages of an EYP session – such as teambuilding and committee work – will be covered from a chairing perspective. The training will be interactive – the participants will get to practise the methods in a safe environment and get feedback on their performance. Special emphasis will also be put on the academic aspect of chairing.

The training course will have three trainers: Jamie Brown (IE), Cecilia Pellosniemi (FI) and Jari Marjelund (FI). All three of them took part in the Training for EYP Trainers in 2010 and have chaired at International Sessions, as well as chaired, presided and trained at numerous National and Regional events around Europe.

The working language of the training will be English. EYP Finland warmly welcomes both Finnish and foreign applicants and aims at a balanced team of participants in terms of nationality and gender. The total number of participants will be 25.

Practical details

The participants are asked to arrive in Helsinki by 15:00 on Friday 12 August. The training will end at 17:00 on Sunday 14 August. The participation fee for the training is €25, and it will cover food, accommodation and programme for the weekend. Additional information can be asked from Meeri Helminen at meeri.helminen@eypfinland.org.

The Helsinki-Vantaa airport has direct connections to tens of locations all around Europe. Ryanair flies to Tampere from a variety of locations, and Helsinki is easily reached from Tampere by both bus and train. Accommodation for possible extra nights in Helsinki will probably be provided free of charge or at least with minimal cost.

How to apply?

All interested alumni are asked to fill in the application form and send it to applications@eypfinland.org by 6 July. All applicants will be informed of the outcome of the selection by 10 July.

You can find the call for participants and the application form on the Alumni Platform http://alumni.eypej.org/archives/12269 (Documents on the left-hand column).
